Thought I'd add that on Saturday, March 24th 2007, I listened to a talk in the morning on 702 radio station regrading FM. A lady (surname was Levine) - not a doctor - has a support group in Johannesburg. One of her suggestions is that any form of creativity is really good for FM sufferers. Yay to that - I suffer from FM and love being creative - so I'm happy I can continue with my art and my FM can benefit too!
I do scrapbooking, which I love - I find it very relaxing and the journaling (writing) I do on my layouts helps me to put my thoughts into words. I love photography which obviously goes well with the scrapbooking and I also do acrylic painting on canvas.
My treatment at the moment - I ended up a ta psychiatrist 1 1/2 years ago who was recommended to me. She prescribed Efexor (an anti-depresessant). I take 150mg a day (1 tablet) - every morning. I can honestly say that after about 6 weeks of taking it, I have never felt better!
Recently I tried to go onto the generic as it would be a cheaper alternative, but I felt awful. Firstly because I was having withdrawal from the Efexor and the generic just wasn't doing the same thing. After a month, I went back on Efexor, took a week to adjust again and am back to normal - Yay!
Occasionally I still have a neck ache and quite often am stiff in the mornings, but generally speaking my mind is clearer and I don't have the anxiety I used to have. I was so dead against any form of 'chemical' medication in the beginning that I tried so many other homeopathic remedies combined with vitamins. My mom eventually said to me that I needed to sort myself out as I was driving my husband mad. That's when I realised that my illness was affecting my family too. Since the Efexor, a year and a half later, we are all happy again!
